First responders in Lafayette went head to head in a friendly game of basketball.

Lafayette Fire, Police and Sheriff’s office all competed in the First Responders Basketball Tournament.

Officer Karl Ratcliff says the game is a great way for first responders to bond outside of their job.

Proceeds from the tournament went to benefit a Lafayette police officer who has been out of work for several months for medical reasons.

“We know how hard it is on the salaries we have to make ends on a normal basis so not being able to work for several months is a strain financially for anybody so for us to come together and do this for him is a huge deal and we’re just glad to be able to put something like this on.” said Ratcliff.
