One of the most treasured bayous of Acadiana is a bit cleaner this evening.

Project Front Yard, St. Martin Parish, The Teche Project and community volunteers spent the day cleaning up Bayou Teche. They filled several trailers full of trash from the bayou, painted playground equipment, and picked up trash in the neighborhood. Those who live along the river are happy to see the effort near Ruth Canal which has a huge collection of trash.

"It's just very important to keep our Bayou Teche clean. It's very important to keep our parks clean." says Kevin Kately, Parks Mayor. "Like I said with a group effort, with everybody coming together as one, everybody benefits."

After the cleaning was over it was time to party. There were drinks, food, and entertainment from Parks native and Grammy nominated musician Corey Ledet and Jesse Belliveau.
